LIGHTWAVES 2026

Lightwaves returns this February to light up the winter nights. Come along to this free, friendly community event to explore illuminated sculptures made by local artists. Walk the light trail around St Paul’s church and grounds after dark.
There will be refreshments available to purchase for children and adults.
Visit the community tent to see a display of 3D stars made by visitors of all ages at the Winter Fiesta in December. If you would like to make your own star to add to the community display on the night, please download the template and instructions below.

The event is weather dependent and some parts of the church grounds have uneven surfaces so may not be accessible to all visitors.
Make your own star from our template
- Download the template Lightwaves-Paper-Stars (pdf 1MB). Print it out on ordinary printer paper or lightweight card if you have some.
- Colour it, decorate it, make it fun.
- Cut it out (just cut out the star part, along the dark lines. Ignore the little flaps).
- Fold it straight across, along the pale, skinny lines that go from the tip of each arm to the point in between two arms. Do this 5 times.
- Squish each fold so they stick up — all the folds should meet at a point in the middle.
- Bring it to Lightwaves in February. We will light it up & hang it in our tent.
