Who we are

We are all local people from the Whitley Bay area.  All the members of the organising team are volunteers. Fiesta Whitley Bay is a not for profit organisation.

Our collective aim is to contribute to the positive development of the town and its residents.

Fiesta

We have established a regular event that provides market stalls and a broad programme of entertainment for people in the local community to come together, engage in activities, listen to music, eat, chat, share information, buy and sell products and build relationships.

Fiesta events are held on Sundays on a quarterly basis – related to the seasons – in the Town Centre (summer months) / Shopping Centre (winter months) & at St Paul’s Church, Whitley Bay.

The North Tyneside Council Events Team provides support and advice in delivering Fiesta.

Fiesta is

• Attracting people to the Town Centre to attend the events
• Providing an event related to the local community
• Encouraging people to make use of the green space and buildings at St. Paul’s Church
• Developing a range of creative activities for local people
• Providing stages for local performers
• Giving local artists and makers the opportunity to test the market / sell their work
• Establishing Fiesta as an important event in the Whitley Bay social calendar

Fiesta events have successfully attracted a great many people of all ages to take part. Town Centre businesses have benefitted from the increased activity in the Town Centre on Sundays.

Future Plans

We have plans to build on our success to date:

• Enable local people, traders, performers and volunteers to be actively involved in the development of Fiesta

• Recruit market traders offering a wider variety of products
• Develop and extend the creative activities and performance programmes
• Attract new activity providers

• Contribute to improving the collaboration between public services, businesses, voluntary, arts and sports organisations for the benefit of the town and its residents.
